It’s Like a Not-So-Small Miracle

When you’re here, surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine Cascade Mountain forest, it’s hard to imagine Seattle is just 90 minutes away. And now, having so easily escaped the city, you discover an almost endless list of outdoor adventures and cultural experiences. All just a short hike, breezy bike ride or picturesque mountain drive away.

Welcome to the Sunny Side

Of course, the beauty of nature can’t be measured in numbers. But here are a couple of intriguing figures: 6,400 and 200+. That’s how many acres of Cascade Mountain magnificence and how many annual days of sunshine we have here in Suncadia, respectively. And when you add those numbers together, then combine them with our more than 40 miles of trails, what you get is a year-round destination for outdoorsy fun of every kind. Kayaking, paddleboarding and fly fishing. Hiking and biking. Skiing and snowshoeing. Dining al fresco at The Stovehouse and soaking in a mineral pool at Glade Spring Spa and … well, you get it. Considering all that, maybe we can reduce Suncadia to just three words: big, bright and beautiful.

Meet the Neighbors

Looking at a map (like the one below), you’ll notice Suncadia nestles between two towns: Roslyn and Cle Elum. And once you get to know them, you’ll come to love having the charms of these classic Washington mountain towns so close.

Roslyn

This is a town with a history as rich as the State of Washington. It was founded in the late 1800s as a coal-mining town. In the 1990s it served as the flavorful backdrop of the television series Northern Exposure. Now it’s known (by those who are in the know) as a mecca for all-season outdoor sports, including the best mountain biking in the state, and a place filled with great local eateries and boutiques. Oh, and from Suncadia, you can bike there.

Cle Elum

“Cle Elum” means “swift water” in the language of the native Kittitas people who once resided here. An appropriate name, considering how the town is stretched along the banks of the Yakima River. With a population of almost 2,000, Cle Elum is about twice the size of Roslyn. And while the great outdoors are the main draw, there are many opportunities to explore quaint shops, taverns and other attractions, such as the historic Carpenter House Museum.

Explore the Territory

The area surrounding Suncadia is filled with fun, food, art and outdoor recreation as only the Cascade Mountains can serve them up. Start planning some awesome day trips with the map below.
