If finding the perfect Suncadia property is a dream come true, then finding the right person to make that happen is equally important. At Suncadia, we have a team of brokers who are as passionate about the resort and community they work at as they are about helping families find their dream home. This week, we want to introduce you to Nanci Koss and Corey Atherton.

An avid horseback rider, biker, and hiker, Nanci hails from Northern Virginia and lived all across the East Coast before settling in the Pacific Northwest 12 years ago. Corey grew up in the Montana Rockies and also has a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. He and his family spend all their free time exploring Suncadia’s extensive trail system, its parks and the Cle Elum river conservation corridor. Nanci joined Suncadia in 2006 and Corey in 2011 and they have a combined 42 years experience as brokers.

Together, Nanci and Corey are working on a stunning property on Black Nugget Lane that’s for sale in Suncadia. “This home was built by Steve Burnstead Construction, which is known in the Pacific Northwest for crafting very high quality homes,” says Corey. Its location at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac makes it a peaceful sanctuary and the sweeping views of the 16th fairway of the Prospector Golf Course certainly add to the allure of this stylishly furnished home.

“This is the kind of chic mountain home where you want to relax and just laze about in luxury,” says Nanci. The home features 3,030 square feet of living space, with four immaculately decorated rooms and three roomy bathrooms. Taking full advantage of the topography on which it sits, the home’s daylight basement leads to a gracious outdoor living space complete with hot tub and firepit. It also features a spectacular custom wine cellar in the den, a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a large center island. Nanci mentions the professionally built-in home theater system that makes family movie night a big deal. “And in the master suite there’s a large soaking tub,” she adds. “This is a home truly built for entertaining both inside and outside,” says Corey. “Multi-level decks and outdoor space offer sun and shade, hot tub and fire pit depending on your mood.”

For those days when your appetite turns to the adventure beyond, this home is perfectly situated to take advantage of everything Suncadia has to offer, from hiking to mountain biking to cycling and fishing—all within easy access.

Suncadia is a place to be with your family and friends — for generations to get together at a table, by a pool, around a fire. As time becomes harder to come by for everyone, Suncadia is the perfect spot to slow down, gather ‘round. Nanci and Corey agree that this home is perfect for a family that wants to connect, to enjoy each other’s company and the great outdoors waiting right outside the front door.

Building a custom designed house probably ranks high on every homeowner’s dream list. At Suncadia, we know how important it is for members of our community to build a home they will love for years to come, one that fits their lifestyle and that they are happy to come home to weekend after weekend. That’s why we have partnered with some of the best home builders in Washington.

Meet Semi Bird, General Manager at Patriot Builders, a company where every project takes on a client-centric approach. Bird, who served in the military for 24 years, received his formal training in civil engineering and construction through the U.S. Army as a Special Forces Engineer. Five years ago, Bird established Patriot Builders and as a Suncadia owner himself, he’s excited to be working on his first Suncadia home. “What I love about Suncadia is that although there is a sense of exclusivity about it, it’s very family friendly,” says Bird. “Yes, it’s very nice and it’s beautiful but it’s a place that families can go. For me, family is everything.”

Patriot Builders is currently working on a home in the popular Prospector’s Reach neighborhood. “We consider this our model home,” says Bird. “We really put a lot of heart to design it, to have something new and unique in the community. The design is what I call ‘lodge luxury’ because there are elements of traditional fused with modern.”

Set along the tee boxes on the 18th fairway of the Prospector Golf Course, this home will bask in southern exposure and offer south Cle Elum Ridge views. “The home will feature elements of stone and wood, custom cabinetry and granite countertops throughout,” says Bird. “Everything flows very nicely, this home has feng shui.”

Featuring just over 2,600 square feet of living space, the home will is designed for the type of family who loves to entertain at home—think a gourmet kitchen and open concept living area with lots of natural light, a fireplace and doors that open to a patio for indoor/outdoor entertaining. But it’s also designed so that parents can retreat to their own sanctuary. “The home has a separate suite at the opposite end of the house from where the kids’ rooms, the bunkroom and the rec room are. It’s the perfect room for mom and dad to retreat to,” says Bird. He adds that the house is built with energy efficiency in mind. “It’s very well insulated, it has high end heating and AC, and top-of-the-line Energy Star appliances in stainless steel. “When I build a house, I build to the pattern of life, meaning that a house should reflect a family,” says Bird. “This is a house that is friendly and is designed to provide space for kids and space for adults.”

This past weekend we wrapped up the 4th annual Real Estate Expo, which took place at the Lodge on April 7. The event drew around 225 guests, some of them current Suncadia homeowners and many others curious about our sunny mountainside community, what it’s like buying a homesite here and the even more exciting prospect of building or decorating a dream home.

Suncadia’s featured builders, architects, landscape designers and many others were on hand to answer questions, give advice, and discuss project ideas. A popular booth at the event was the Seattle Hot Tub Company, which displayed a hot tub at the event’s entrance and inside the event space. With relaxation in mind, many attendees made their way to meet Glade Springs Spa therapists, who offered salt scrub hand massages and shared information about the spa menu and mindful activities.

Of course, many of those in attendance were curious about two Suncadia neighborhoods. At the River Ridge table, guests learned not only about this harmonious gated community in the forest where a new collection of homesites is spread out generously between the towering pines and evergreens but also got to taste specialty cookies. Meanwhile, those who stopped at the Tumble Creek booth had a chance to meet the exclusive neighborhood’s GM and shop for golf apparel from the Pro Shop. They also got to meet one or two Tumble Creekers who shared stories of bonding on the course or at the pool.

Throughout the event, guests were treated to delicious bites such as roasted corn bisque and capellini primavera with spring vegetables prepared by the resort’s new chef Jake Brenchley.

We are proud to announce that we raised over $6,000 this year through our beer/spirit sales and personal donations. 100% of proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity, a charity near and dear to Suncadia Real Estate. Thank you to everyone who made this donation possible!
