Located an easy 80 miles from the city, but far beyond any vacation community you could ever imagine, Suncadia is a destination that is warm and wonderful in every way. If you’ve ever dreamt of owning a home in this pristine natural landscape, now is the time to take the first step into making your dream a reality—by joining us on an exclusive open tour of 5exceptional homes on offer across our community.

Our comprehensive tour will cover homes within the resort core and in the exclusive gated community of River Ridge, where you will take tours of two of our most anticipated homes, which are in the final stages of construction. Discover a sprawling 4-bedroom home located on 250 Kokanee LP, and marvel at the unique touches that include ledge-cut stacked walls and a vaulted great room. This 2,979 square-foot domicile features 3 bedrooms on the upper level, while the lower level leads out to a remarkable elevated deck with built-in BBQ and fire pits; making this space ideal for both family getaways and friendly gatherings. Or maybe it’s the modern mountain charms of the 4-bedroom home on 51 Kokanee LP that will hold your attention, with over 3,000 square feet of space revealing innovative touches like a Bunk Nook, an expansive great room, an extraordinary outdoor deck and even a bonus room of the uppermost level.

We look forward to welcoming you on October 20, and helping you find the home of your dreams.

It’s almost time to bid farewell to summer—and welcome fall with open arms! The arrival of the cooler months setting the scene for truly picturesque moments at Suncadia, with the changing hues of the leaves, crisp mountain air and clear skies creating the perfect backdrop for a season of celebration within the community. Whether it is for a quick weekend trip with friends and family, or a holiday for Halloween or Thanksgiving—the season is chock-full of reasons for a road trip—including, of course, the Harvest Festival.

The unofficial kick-off for the season in Suncadia, the festival is now 14 years old, and is a vibrant two-weekend celebration of all things fall. Set to be hosted at the historic Nelson Farm, it brings back all the community favorites, including the hay maze, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony and wagon rides, as well as a pumpkin archery tournament and a market.

The little ones are in for a special treat with the Touch-A-Truck event, which allows kids to get up-close and personal with some of their favorite big rigs. This is a ticketed initiative, and a portion of the proceeds go to support local fire departments.

On both weekends, live performances by Chinook Entertainment will have you grooving, moving and cheering, while light bites from food trucks and Dru Bru’s menu of beverages keep your appetite and thirst at bay.

Of course, The Big Dirty Run will make a comeback this year too, with a special 5k course that winds through the muddy backwoods trails of Suncadia’s Nelson Preserve neighborhood and includes some new obstacles this year. The reward for making it through to the finish is a cold glass of beer (or root beer for the kids) to toast your muddy victory.

The Suncadia Harvest Fest will be held on October 5-6 & 12-13, 2019 from 10am-5pm at Nelson Farm—see all that’s in store for you here.

The Big Dirty Run will be held on October 12 and will begin at Nelson Farm. Please purchase your tickets and check the full agenda here.

We’ll see you there!

Spotlight on Suncadia Featured Builder: WoodRidge Custom Homes

Building a home in the heart of nature is a dream shared by many but realized only by a few. It’s a labor of love, that comes to fruition not because of one person, but by the collective efforts of like-minded individuals. At Suncadia, we engage with partners who share our vision for the community and help our residents design and build homes that embody their desires. Meet Lynn Roman from WoodRidge Custom Homes.

Tell us about the company, and your journey to becoming a Suncadia Featured Builder.

October 13, 2006 was a special day—it was when WoodRidge custom Homes was born. I had experience working on and building homes in the past, but I was always keen on branching out for myself. Together with my partner Cliff Melby, the company has grown by leaps and bounds, so in just over a decade, we are a name to contend with. Over the course of 14 years, we have helped build more than 80 homes in Tumble Creek and Nelson Preserve.

Even though the homes are all individual designs, what is the common thread that is consistent throughout all WoodRidge Custom Homes?

I think it’s our approach to building homes. Whether we’re building a home for $800k or $1.8M, we have the same philosophy: “Our success as a custom home builder reflects the satisfaction, pride and quality of home for all of our customers”. We don’t just treat clients like commodities; we work with them to make sure each and every detail is perfect, that they see their dreams realized before their eyes. No matter what the job is, we never settle. We work hard to find innovative solutions that are both beautiful and functional, and only breathe easy when we see the client smile with satisfaction. And it isn’t just about the build, but it extends beyond, even into after-build services—it’s about making sure we sustain the relationship.

What is the most important thing you consider when working on a custom home for a client?

I think it’s important to find common ground in terms of vision and personality. I mean, it’s easy to build whatever we’re asked to and move on to the next job, but we really take the time to get to know the client and build on each other’s ideas. This helps us to work together to create a unique home that reflects the individual’s desires but at the same time make sure that the house we design and build uses cutting edge construction techniques and strategic partnerships that provide added value, which in turn sets us apart us from our competitors.

What do you think makes the Suncadia community special?

It’s the kind of place you don’t see very often in today’s world—pristine, untouched, in the heart of nature—and still not that far from the modern world. It’s a full-fledged resort, but it’s home. It’s based on a simple vision but at the same time, it’s a grand view on what life should be like. And all the little touches, the restaurants, trails, golf courses, they all come together to make this a special experience.

What is your vision for the Suncadia community homes you design? How do they differ from the other homes dotting the landscape?

Suncadia is a very special place. The focus it places on modern mountainside living is not something very common, and it’s something that appeals to a wide demographic—our clients look for all sorts of solutions, from classic cabin-style homes to contemporary residences. It’s important not to get swept away in the romance of it all and build a pretty looking home. We actually take a step back to think through all the details. For example, making sure the rainwater is properly drained off, or that the wood finishes are properly treated to withstand the elements. It’s easy to overlook these things, but we actually work them into our design so the magical experience is backed up by logical solutions.

An ancient practice that combines breathing, exercise and meditation, yoga has become increasingly popular in today’s busy world, a retreat from chaotic and busy lives. It can be practiced almost anywhere, but its healing powers seem to be enhanced in the great outdoors, surrounded by nature and fresh air.

So it’s no surprise that we at Suncadia are paying homage to this centuries-old tradition by hosting complimentary yoga classes all through the month of September. Held every Saturday morning at Glade Spring Spa and Nelson Farm Pool under the guidance of experienced gurus, the classes will introduce participants to the different aspects of yoga, as detailed below.

Kicking the month off, September 7th will see NSCA certified personal trainer Andreas Fetz lead students of all levels through an invigorating vinyasa practice that focuses on the exploration of various movement patterns. The following week, on September 14th, Lara Ederer, co-founder of Yogalabs Northwest will teach an energizing vinyasa class that will connect dynamic poses with breath. On September 21st, experienced yogi Camy Sundberg will lead the class through a full body flow where you’ll explore your body’s strength and balance, while the event ends on September 28 with Karla Tafra’s flowy vinyasa class, set to energetic music.

Check-in for each session begins at 7.30 am, and the class will start at 8.00 am sharp. Participants will also be offered post-class refreshments, courtesy KIND Snacks and Liberty Bottleworks. So dust off your yoga mats and get ready to say “om” at Suncadia!
